I used a citrius cleaner concentrate. First spray the area first. Next, apply some on a rag, get it pretty wet and press it against the surface you want to clean. Keep the rag there so the cleaner has some time to soften up that rust proof stuff. The rag will prevent the stuff from drying out on the surface you are cleaning. I would not recomend any type of brush on any painted surface. I used those red shop rags on the painted surfaces and a small soft toothbrush on the other stuff. Try not to get the area to wet with water when cleaning off the area. It tends to dilute the effect of the cleaner. try to rince off the the area until you have almost all of that sitcky crap off. good Luck.......
